Bo Diddley
Bo Diddley (December 30, 1928 – June 2, 2008) was an influential American rock and roll singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Often cited as a key figure in the transition from blues to rock and roll, he introduced more insistent, driving rhythms and a hard-edged guitar sound. He was also known for his characteristic rectangular guitar.

Meeting BO November 1988 Stuttgart, West Germany. We had a nice hour chat over a cigar and a drink after a show. BO couldn't have been more a friend to a complete stranger. To a great musician and a friend. RADMAN

Bo: You brought us wonderful concerts, wonderful songs, wonderful moments, all with great originallity. I will miss the sound of your rare guitar, the unique hat, but you will never die in our hearts. Now living in The Light, may the peace be with you.

John Lennon once said, "Before Elvis, there was nothing." Perhaps he should have said, "Before Elvis, there was Diddley."
Bo Diddley, his influence and key inspiration spans all generations. From Buddy Holly to The Clash, the Rolling Stones to U2 and countless others, both then and now. Even Elvis' had Bo's beat - '(Marie's The Name Of) His Latest Flame'.
The Bo Diddley backbeat was one of the first iconic heartbeats of Rock 'n' Roll.
God Bless you, Bo & Rock On! Say 'Hi!' to Elvis, Buddy & the guys for us. Thank you all for giving us so much.

The power and energy in your music is both arousing and inspiring. Those of us pursuing musical growth--as well of those who are not--can truly appreciate the influences you brought and still bring to the table. Rest well and wherever you go, man, know you were worth it.

The beat has its roots in West Africa, but in Bo's hands those roots flowered and bore their sweet fruit in America. Generations to come will call it The Bo Diddley Beat.

He was my favorite guitar player. In fact, he was the originator, the first one to play electric guitar as a authentic instrument, not as an amplified acoustic guitar.
Today it's a sad day.
